Five pig head carrion were placed at least 7 m apart under cages in temperate mixed forest. Leaf litter was sampled 0 m, 1.5 m, and 3 m from each carrion weekly during summer, and monthly during autumn, until the first frost. Arthropods were extracted from leaf litter by using Berlese funnels. Associated temperature data was collected from average temperature for the summer was 25°C with 64% relative humidity with total precipitation of 12.5cm. Weather data was collected daily from ‘Taunton, Taunton Municipal Airport (KTAN)’ 41.88°N, -71.02°WElev: 43ft. via National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).<br>Soil data was collected via a soil core at each distance from the carrion at each stage of decomposition and sent to Louisiana State University Agricultural Center for analysis.
