This dataset contains NVivo query outputs used in the analysis of qualitative data for the study “Participatory art workshops as catalysts for environmental stewardship in Western Kenya”. The research explored how participatory arts (e.g., painting, embroidery, sculpture, music, and dance) influence environmental stewardship capacities and motivations in two farming communities in the Yala Basin, Western Kenya. Using Bennett et al.’s (2018) stewardship framework, the study examined the development and enhancement of human capital and motivational drivers among participants. The dataset includes: Matrix coding queries examining intersections between human capital, stewardship motivations, and creative processes. Queries comparing responses across demographic groups and locations. The queries were run using NVivo 14 and are structured around pre-developed and emergent themes based on the environmental stewardship framework, participatory processes, and arts-based learning. More information on the coding framework is available in the Supplementary Materials of the paper. This dataset supports qualitative findings discussed in the associated manuscript and contributes to empirical evidence on the role of arts in conservation and community engagement.
