Through a systematic literature search (Web of Science and Scopus, November 2023), we compiled published histological records of mature leaf galls that allowed identification of anatomical traits, following standardized terminology from Ferreira et al. (2019). Seven binary anatomical traits (indumentum, cuticle thickness, epidermis/periderm thickness, sclerenchyma, hypertrophy, hyperplasia, and parenchyma homogenization) and a continuous Tissue Investment Index (TII, calculated as the ratio between external and internal compartment thickness) were used to characterize gall morphotypes. Collection sites were georeferenced and matched to climatic variables (mean annual temperature, precipitation, relative humidity, and solar radiation) from INMET (Brazilian sites) and the Copernicus Climate Data Store (international sites). Traits and TII were ordinated via Principal Coordinates Analysis (PCoA) on a Gower dissimilarity matrix, classified into clusters via Ward's hierarchical clustering, related to environmental predictors via distance-based redundancy analysis (db-RDA), and tested against humidity/radiation via GLM/GLMM model selection. The dataset is predominantly composed of Cerrado and Atlantic Forest systems.
