THE LEGACY OF ABDULLA AVLONI IN THE HISTORY OF UZBEK TRANSLATION STUDIES

This article analyzes the translation activity of Abdulla Avloniy, a representative of the Uzbek Jadid movement, educator, playwright, and publisher, and its place in the development of Uzbek translation studies. Avloniy translated some Ivan Krylov's fables and plays by Azerbaijani and Tatar dramatists into Uzbek, and also creatively adapted stories from Saadi's "Gulistan" and "Bustan" and other classical Eastern sources for young readers. Using historical-comparative and philological text analysis, the article examines Avloniy's translation strategies — in particular, adaptation for a child audience, explanatory expansion, and national-cultural domestication — through concrete examples.
