This study allows quantitative assessment of soil microbial community, reveals the presence of viable but non-culturable novel hydrocarbon degrading bacteria and overcome the limitation imposed by cultivation. A hydrocarbon-contaminated soil; dark, moistened with oil sampled from a mechanic workshop in Lagos, Nigeria. the coordinates of the sampling point is latitude 6° 79' N, longitude 3° 31' E.本研究实现了土壤微生物群落的定量评估，揭示了可存活但不可培养的新型烃类降解细菌的存在，突破了传统微生物培养方法施加的研究局限。本次研究的样本为采自尼日利亚拉各斯某机动车维修店的烃类污染土壤，该土壤呈深色且因油污浸润而湿润。采样点坐标为北纬6°79′，东经3°31′。
