The study is conducted in northeastern China, between 39° to 54°N and 119° to 134°E. Northeastern China is identified as a priority area for biodiversity conservation because it has a significantly higher taxonomic richness than other temperate regions of the world at different taxon levels, and is considered ideal for examining spatial patterns and causes of diversity at large spatial scales. The study area spans numerous climatic zones, from the warm temperate zone in the south to the cold temperate zone in the north. Four distinct seasons result from the effect of the high-latitude East Asian Monsoons, with the main precipitation period lasting from June through September. The study area includes 415 plots. 18 nested circular subplots make up each plot. Starting with the smallest subplot, which has a radius of 1 m, the radius of each larger subplot increases by 1m until the radius of the largest subplot increases by 0.8 m to 17.8 m, covering an area of 1,000 m2. A SAR curve for each plot is developed using the log-log power equation. 415 z- and c-values are obtained in total. 10 climate variables, 5 soil variables and 1 biotic interactions variables are also included in the database.

本研究开展于中国东北地区,地理范围介于北纬39°至54°、东经119°至134°之间。中国东北地区因在不同分类阶元上的分类丰富度均显著高于全球其他温带区域,被列为生物多样性保护优先区域,同时也是探究大空间尺度下物种多样性格局及其成因的理想研究场所。研究区域涵盖多种气候带,自南部的暖温带延伸至北部的寒温带。受高纬度东亚季风影响,区域内四季分明,主要降水时段为6月至9月。本研究共设置415个样地,每个样地包含18个嵌套式圆形亚样方。以半径1米的最小亚样方为起始,每一级更大的亚样方半径依次递增1米,直至最大亚样方半径达17.8米(增幅0.8米),其覆盖面积为1000平方米。研究采用双对数幂函数方程构建每个样地的物种面积曲线(Species-Area Relationship, SAR),最终共得到415组z值与c值。本数据库同时包含10个气候变量、5个土壤变量以及1个生物交互作用变量。
