This study aims to test the hypotheses that H2 utilizing microorganisms are more concentrated on rock surfaces for more direct access to H2 and that increased H2 can stimulate their growth. We will compare the microbial compositions in the biomass obtained from the planktonic phase, and rock surfaces with and without H2 enrichment. Sequences obtained in this study will also be combined with our existing metagenomic sequences into a de novo co-assembly. PI Maggie Lau, Princeton University
