Supporting Data for "Revisiting Parentocracy in Post-Pandemic Hong Kong: Parental Decision-Making and Perceptions of Online Tutoring”

This dataset accompanies the doctoral thesis Revisiting Parentocracy in Post-Pandemic Hong Kong: Parental Decision-Making and Perceptions of Online Tutoring. Using data from semi-structured interviews with forty-one parents from a local girls’ secondary school in Hong Kong, this qualitative study explores parents’ selection criteria for tutoring and tutors, their experiences of online learning during school closures, and how these experiences shape their perceptions of online tutoring in the post-Covid-19 context. The dataset is organised in a main folder titled “Dataset (Main Folder)”, which contains three sub-folders. “Dataset (Original Recordings)” includes all audio recordings of the interviews, each labelled with a participant ID. “Dataset (Interviews)” contains the interview protocol, the Nvivo-generated codebook, and a Microsoft Excel file titled Data Collection Tracker_Details of interviews, which records key information for all 41 interviews (date and time, duration, interview mode, and interviewee ethnicity). “Dataset (Interview Notes)” comprises the researcher’s interview notes taken during all interviews. All direct personal identifiers, such as interviewees’ names, have been removed to protect participants’ privacy.

本数据集配套于博士学位论文《后疫情时代香港的家长管治模式再审视：家长决策与在线家教认知》。本质性研究基于香港本地一所女子中学的41名家长的半结构化访谈数据，探讨了家长在选择家教及辅导服务时的评判标准、校园停课期间的在线学习体验，以及这些体验如何影响他们在后新冠疫情语境下对在线家教的认知。本数据集以名为"数据集（主文件夹）"的主文件夹进行组织，内含三个子文件夹："数据集（原始录音）"收录全部访谈音频录音，每份录音均以受访者ID标注；"数据集（访谈资料）"包含访谈提纲、Nvivo生成的编码手册，以及名为《访谈数据收集追踪详情》的Microsoft Excel文件，该文件记录了全部41场访谈的关键信息，包括访谈日期与时间、时长、访谈形式及受访者种族；"数据集（访谈笔记）"收录研究者在所有访谈过程中撰写的访谈笔记。为保护受访者隐私，所有可直接识别个人身份的信息（如受访者姓名）均已移除。
