Supporting data for “Inheriting and Continuing Master Sheng Yen’s Legacy – A Study of Dharma Drum Mountain as a Centre of Buddhist Learning and Practice”

This is a study of Dharma Drum Mountain (DDM), an international Buddhist order founded by Master Sheng Yen (1931-2009), investigating the mechanisms through which DDM inherits and continues the legacy of its late founder. It unfolds a case of institutional succession in modern Chinese Chán. By employing textual analysis and ethnographic fieldwork experience in Taiwan, Hong Kong, the United States and London, this study contributes latest empirical data and insights to examine how a large-scale Buddhist organisation addresses the challenges of leadership and legacy continuity following the founders' passing, amid evolving needs of the modern world.

本研究聚焦于圣严法师（1931-2009）创立的国际佛教团体法鼓山（Dharma Drum Mountain，DDM），旨在探究该团体传承并延续其已故创始人精神遗产的内在机制。本研究呈现了现代中国禅宗的一则制度传承案例。通过文本分析与在中国台湾、中国香港、美国及伦敦开展的民族志田野调查，本研究获取了最新实证数据与研究洞见，用以探讨在现代社会需求不断演进的背景下，大型佛教组织在创始人圆寂后，如何应对领导力传承与遗产延续所面临的各类挑战。
