HORDB: a comprehensive database of hormone peptide

Hormone peptides are secreted by endocrine cells to act on target cells. They serve as signal molecules and play vital roles in the regulation of metabolism, growth and differentiation, etc. They present a unique group of drugs that mimics natural pathways, especially as supplement therapies where deficient on endogenous levels. The first clinically used hormone peptide, insulin, has been used in diabetes for about one hundred years. With the tremendous progress in protein/peptide detection and quantification procedures, the number of hormone peptides has increased dramatically. We constructed HORDB(hordb.cpu-bioinfor.org), a comprehensive database of hormone peptides. The database holds 6025 entries,including 5729 hormone peptides, 40 peptides drugs and 256 marketed preparations of these drugs. Each item has detailed notes, containing basic information, sequence, structure, activity, physics, and literature. We also added IC50, EC50, ED50 and information about whether to cross the blood-brain barrier into the activity information annotation. Peptides with a PDB structure display their structure in the database. In addition, HOROB integrates search and sequence analysis to facilitate user browsing and data analysis.激素肽（hormone peptide）由内分泌细胞分泌并作用于靶细胞，作为信号分子在代谢、生长与分化等生命活动的调控中发挥关键作用。它们是一类模拟天然生理通路的独特药物，尤其适用于内源性水平不足的补充治疗。首款临床应用的激素肽——胰岛素（insulin）已被用于糖尿病治疗逾百年。随着蛋白质/肽类检测与定量技术的长足进步，激素肽的数量大幅增长。我们构建了激素肽综合数据库HORDB（访问网址：hordb.cpu-bioinfor.org），该数据库共收录6025条数据，包含5729条激素肽、40种肽类药物以及256种该类药物的上市制剂。每条数据均附带详细注释，涵盖基础信息、序列、结构、活性、理化特性以及参考文献。我们还将IC50、EC50、ED50以及能否穿过血脑屏障的相关信息纳入活性信息注释范畴。带有PDB（Protein Data Bank）结构的肽类可在数据库中展示其对应结构。此外，HOROB集成了检索与序列分析功能，以方便用户进行浏览与数据分析。
