Acetic acid bacteria are microbes which perform oxidative fermentation for ATP acquisition. This property is applied to various industrial uses such as vinegar production. In spite of the importance of these bacteria, classification of them is presently confused because of their genetic instability. The only way to dissolve this problem is considered to introduce a new analyzing method based on genomic information to classification methodology. For this purpose, genome information of many kinds of acetic acid bacteria is required, and that of this strain is among the targets. The goal of this project is to determine genome sequences of all strains included in acetic acid bacteria, and propose more accurate phylogeny/ biological relationship of these bacteria on the basis of the genome information.

醋酸菌(Acetic acid bacteria)是一类通过氧化发酵获取三磷酸腺苷(ATP)的微生物。该特性被应用于食醋生产等诸多工业场景。尽管这类细菌具有重要价值,但由于其遗传不稳定性,当前的分类学研究仍陷入混乱。目前解决该问题的唯一可行路径,被认为是在分类学方法中引入基于基因组信息的新型分析手段。为此,需要获取多种醋酸菌的基因组信息,本菌株的基因组信息正是此类研究目标之一。本项目的目标是测定所有醋酸菌菌株的基因组序列,并基于基因组信息为这类细菌构建更为精准的系统发育(phylogeny)与生物学关联关系。
