Glossina pallidipes is one of the most important biological vectors for African animal trypanosomiasis in sub-Saharan Africa. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) have been implicated in regulating several biological processes such as development, embryogenesis, metamorphosis, and vector competence in insect species. However, their occurrence and function in this important vector is still scarcely understood. This project sort to identify and characterize miRNAs transcripts, and their roles in different developmental stages of Glossina pallidipes.

淡足舌蝇(Glossina pallidipes)是撒哈拉以南非洲地区非洲家畜锥虫病最重要的生物传播媒介之一。微小核糖核酸(miRNAs)已被证实可调控昆虫物种的发育、胚胎发生、变态发育以及媒介效能等多项生物学过程。然而,目前学界对这一重要传播媒介体内miRNAs的存在与功能仍鲜少了解。本研究旨在鉴定并表征淡足舌蝇的miRNAs转录本,并解析其在该物种不同发育阶段的生物学作用。
