A microbial culture collection of the oak microbiota, containing more than 30,000 bacterial and fungal isolates, was characterised using 16S rRNA gene and ITS amplicon sequencing. The composition of this culture collection (culture-dependent analysis) was then compared with the culture-independent microbiome profiles generated from the same tree tissue samples from which the isolates were obtained.In this data set, .qmd files contain the analysis of the oak microbial culture collection and the comparison between culture-dependent and culture-independent analyses of the oak microbiota. The numbers in the file names indicate the order in which the scripts should be run.The directory html_files contains the rendered HTML versions of the .qmd analyses.input_files.zip contains all RDS, CSV, and XLSX files required to run the .qmd scripts.A README.txt file is provided with a file description and software requirements.
