The fine flounder (Paralichtys adspersus) is a fish species distributed along the coasts of the Southeastern Pacific Ocean, which has been considered one of the endemic species of greatest farming potential in Chile. Despite his great qualities, this flat fish requires longer times to reach commercial size as a consequence of its slow growth rates limiting the establishment of production centers. At present, there are a few reported gene sequences of P. adpersus available in public databases but enough to establish a program of growth monitoring based on molecular markers. In order to identify genes involved in molecular endocrinology aspect of fine flounder growth, we performed skeletal muscle transcriptome sequencing with Illumina MiSeq.
