Dual RNA sequencing of symbiotic and aposymbiotic Cardiocondyla obscurior ants

RNA reads generated from dual RNA sequencing of pooled life stages and castes (larvae, pupae, adult workers and adult queens) to capture transcriptomic profiles of both host, Cardiocondyla obscurior, and symbiont, Westeberhardia, in symbiotic individuals, and just the host in aposymbiotic individuals. Samples originated from Japan but have been lab-reared for over 10 years. For aposymbiotic colonies, Westeberhardia was removed experimentally using heat treatment over a period of 4 weeks, the colonies were then returned to their standardised conditions, identical to symbiotic colonies.

本数据集包含对合并生活阶段与社会品级（幼虫、蛹、工蚁成虫及蚁后成虫）样本开展双转录组测序（dual RNA sequencing）所得的RNA读段，用于捕获共生个体中宿主Cardiocondyla obscurior与共生菌Westeberhardia的转录组图谱，以及非共生个体中仅宿主的转录组图谱。所有样本采集自日本，但已在实验室饲养超过10年。针对非共生蚁群，研究人员通过为期4周的热处理实验性去除了其体内的Westeberhardia共生菌，随后将蚁群恢复至与共生蚁群一致的标准化饲养条件。
