GT Observations of Active Cool Stars: VY Ari

GTVY Ari is an active RS CVn binary locked in synchronous rotation. We proposeto observe VY Ari for 40 ks to investigate the composition of its quiescentcorona in detail, and, if flares are seen, to follow the temperature, density,abundance, and plasma velocity histories during the evaporation and coolingprocesses in detail with the RGS and the EPICs. To avoid saturation, the pn andone MOS camera will be used in TIMING mode, both with the medium filter. The OMused the UVW2 filter.
