This dataset contains multi-day and multi-temporal observational data on stem water potential changes of two desert plant species, Tamarix ramosissima and Haloxylon ammodendron, under varying groundwater level conditions, focusing on the water status of typical desert plants in the middle reaches of the Heihe River. Data were collected from 2009 to 2010. The data collection sites are located around the Linze Experimental Station of the Cold and Arid Regions Environmental and Engineering Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Sciences, with an altitude of 1380 meters.
