The Oslers entertained so often here, and housed visitors so frequently, that the house became known among friends as "The Open Arms".. This picture was one of a series taken by John Farquhar Fulton, a doctor and bibliophile, before Osler's book collection was removed to McGill University. (Osler bequeathed his library to McGill on his death in 1919; the Osler Library opened there in 1929.).
