In the recent decades, European ash, Fraxinus excelsior, has suffered from infection by the invasive pathogen Hymenoscyphus fraxineus, decimating the European ash stands. The fungus originates from Asia where it is associated with Fraxinus mandshurica, which is assumed to be one of the natural hosts. A fraction of the European F. excelsior population exhibits exceptionally low susceptibiliy to disease infection, however the genetic background is, so far, unknown. Here we compare the transcriptomes from leaves of a highly susceptible (Tree 27) and a highly tolerant F. excelsior individual (Tree 35) and F. mandshurica, under infection, to identify genes potentially involved in resistance/tolerance towards H. fraxineus.

近数十年来,欧洲白蜡树(Fraxinus excelsior)持续遭受入侵性病原体白蜡树盘菌(Hymenoscyphus fraxineus)的侵染,致使欧洲白蜡林大面积衰减枯死。该真菌起源于亚洲,与花曲柳(Fraxinus mandshurica)形成共生关系,后者被认定为其天然寄主之一。当前,部分欧洲白蜡树种群对该病害展现出极低的易感性,但其背后的遗传背景迄今仍未阐明。本研究通过对比病原菌侵染条件下,高感病欧洲白蜡树个体(树27)、高耐病欧洲白蜡树个体(树35)及花曲柳的叶片转录组(transcriptome),以期筛选出参与抗/耐白蜡树盘菌(Hymenoscyphus fraxineus)过程的潜在功能基因。
