PilotSTRATEGY Survey Data on Public Perceptions of Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) - Spain

The PilotStrategy Survey Data contains survey responses from citizens regarding their perceptions of carbon capture and storage (CCS) in six relevant regions across the five PilotSTRATEGY countries (Portugal, Spain, France, Poland, and Greece). These responses were collected in two waves, in 2022 and 2025. The datasets provide the empirical basis for the published project findings on the public acceptance of CCS in the regions, as reported in the deliverables by Dütschke et al. (2022) and Dütschke et al. (2025). These datasets may be of interest to researchers and practitioners seeking to conduct further analyses beyond the original project outputs. The data comprises survey datasets (in Excel format and, where available, also in SPSS format), along with accompanying documentation, i.e. codebooks and questionnaires (in Word, Excel, and PDF formats). The aim of the regional surveys was to gain a deeper understanding of current perceptions of CCS among the general public in the relevant regions and to track changes over time. However, comparability between the two survey waves is constrained by differences in regional composition. Therefore, comparisons over time need to be interpreted with caution, as they provide limited insight into how attitudes have evolved within the specific regions under study. All surveys were implemented in the respective national languages, and the resulting datasets and documentation are provided in either the national language or English. The datasets contain survey responses from citizens residing in the regions under study in the Horizon 2020 project PilotSTRATEGY, i.e. the Lusitanian Basin in Portugal including an onshore and an offshore area next to each other, the Ebro Basin in Spain, also including an onshore and an offshore area in different parts of the Basin, Spain’s Ebro Basin, Spain’s Ebro Delta, the Paris basin in France, and Upper Silesia in Poland and West Macedonia in Greece. The second wave of surveys focused exclusively on the basins in Portugal (offshore), Spain (onshore), and France (onshore). Data was collected via telephone surveys in Portugal and Spain and online surveys in the remaining countries, with samples ranging from 243 to 497 respondents. The first wave of surveys was conducted between July and September 2022, and the second wave of surveys between June and July 2025. To ensure the representativeness of the findings, participants were recruited by subcontracted market research companies. Fraunhofer ISI administered the online surveys directly, while the market research companies conducted the telephone surveys. Data analysis was carried out by Fraunhofer ISI. Where necessary, the data were anonymised for publication to ensure data protection. This involved removing socio-demographic variables, open-ended responses, and any other variables that might allow the identification of participants, such as panel IDs. In addition, columns not required for potential analyses, such as browser data, were deleted.PilotSTRATEGY调研数据集（PilotSTRATEGY Survey Data）收录了五个PilotSTRATEGY试点国家（葡萄牙、西班牙、法国、波兰与希腊）内六个相关区域的公民对碳捕集与封存（carbon capture and storage, CCS）的认知调研问卷数据。该调研数据分两批次采集，分别为2022年与2025年批次。本数据集为已发表的区域公众CCS接受度项目研究成果提供了实证基础，相关成果已刊载于Dütschke等人（2022）与Dütschke等人（2025）的项目交付成果中。本数据集可供希望在原始项目产出基础上开展进一步分析的研究人员与行业从业者使用。 本数据集包含Excel格式的调研数据集，如有可用版本还附带SPSS格式数据集，同时配套提供编码手册（codebooks）与调研问卷（Word、Excel及PDF格式）。本次区域调研的核心目标是深入了解目标区域普通公众当前对CCS的认知情况，并追踪其随时间的变化趋势。但由于两批次调研的区域构成存在差异，二者的可比性受到限制。因此，对跨批次的时间维度比较需谨慎解读，因其仅能为特定研究区域内公众态度的演变提供有限洞察。所有调研均以对应国家的本土语言开展，最终生成的数据集与文档可提供本土语言或英文版本。 本数据集收录了欧盟地平线2020（Horizon 2020）项目PilotSTRATEGY所覆盖研究区域内居民的调研问卷数据，具体包括：葡萄牙的卢西塔尼亚盆地（含相邻的陆上与近海区域）、西班牙的埃布罗盆地（含该盆地不同区域的陆上与近海区域，含西班牙埃布罗三角洲）、法国的巴黎盆地、波兰的上西里西亚地区以及希腊的西马其顿地区。第二批次调研仅聚焦于葡萄牙（近海区域）、西班牙（陆上区域）与法国（陆上区域）的相关盆地。 调研数据的采集方式如下：葡萄牙与西班牙采用电话访谈，其余国家采用线上调研方式，有效样本量介于243至497份之间。第一批次调研于2022年7月至9月间开展，第二批次调研于2025年6月至7月间开展。为确保研究结果的代表性，调研参与者由分包的市场调研公司招募。弗劳恩霍夫系统与创新研究所（Fraunhofer ISI）直接负责线上调研的实施，而电话调研则由合作的市场调研公司开展。数据分析工作由Fraunhofer ISI完成。为满足出版要求与数据保护规范，必要时已对数据进行匿名化处理，具体包括移除社会人口学变量、开放式回答以及所有可能用于识别参与者的信息（如面板ID）。此外，部分与潜在分析无关的列（如浏览器数据）也已删除。
