Urban-atmosphere coupled models are widely used to understand urban environments and their impacts on atmospheric processes. A common requirement for these models is information regarding the "urban fraction", which refers to the proportion of model grid cells covered by impervious surface area (ISA). The WorldCover product from the European Space Agency (ESA) provides global land cover maps for the reference years 2020 and 2021, with a spatial resolution of 10 meters. This dataset is based on Sentinel-1 and Sentinel-2 data, with an overall accuracy of 74.4% in 2020 and 76.7% in 2021. In this study, we processed the WorldCover dataset and provide an "urban fraction" that can be directly used in urban modeling systems. This dataset contains GeoTIFF and Weather Research and Forecasting Preprocessing System (WRF-WPS) format files for spatial resolutions of 1°, 0.5°, 0.25°, 0.009° (approximately 1 km), 0.0027° (approximately 300 m), and 0.0009° (approximately 100 m). GeoTIFF files can be converted for use in other urban mesoscale modeling systems. Please refer to README.txt for more information on using this dataset.

Note: Version 2.0.0 processes the urban fraction using the WorldCover 2021 v200 dataset, while version 1.0.0 uses the WorldCover 2020 v100 dataset.
