Workpiece material: 15 vol% SiCp/Al composites (the matrix, 2024 aluminium, was reinforced with 60 μm average-sized SiC particles).
Dry cutting test: an uncut chip thickness of 0.05 mm, a cutting speed of 5 mm/min, a width of cut of 2 mm, and a PCD cutting insert with a 15° rake angle, 7° clearance angle and an edge radius of 9~10 μm.
