PhiPLPE is the first phage isolated for Iodobacter spp., or any other closely related bacteria such as Chromobacterium spp., which are producers of a unique class of violet compounds, violaceins, of interest in quorum sensing and medical applications (anti-microbial, anti-cancer).

PhiPLPE是首个针对碘杆菌属（Iodobacter spp.）及其近缘细菌类群（如色杆菌属（Chromobacterium spp.））分离获得的噬菌体。此类近缘细菌可产生一类独特的紫罗兰素类化合物（violaceins），该类物质在群体感应（quorum sensing）以及抗菌、抗癌等医学应用领域具有重要研究价值。
