资源简介:
We have compiled published an unpublished data in which pollen supplementation experiments have been conducted in natural populations. This experiment has two treatments, supplement and control. Plants in the supplement treatment have pollen added to their stigma. If these plants then have higher reproductive success than plants in the control treatment, it is concluded that reproduction in the population is limited by pollen supply. The goal of our study was to characterize which types of plants (based on breeding system, life history, pollination syndrome, etc.) are limited by pollen. For each study, we have recorded: 1. Identity of the plant (family, genus, species) 2. Plant display size (e.g. number of flowers/plant) 3. Plant breeding system 4. Life history (monocarpic, polycarpic) 5. Life form (herb, tree, shrub) 6. Flower size, color and shape 7. Identity of pollinator (e.g. bee, bat, bird, wind) 8. Whether the plant and pollinators are native vs. exotic 9. Pollinator visitation rate 10. Plant population density 11. Location (country) of the study 12. Mean, sample size and variance of plants in the control and supplement treatments. The response variables were: fruit set, seed set, number seeds/fruit, number seeds/flower, number seeds/plant.
