Since weevils are the most damaging pests of sweetpotato, the development of cultivars resistant to weevil species is considered as the most important aspect in sweetpotato breeding. However, the mechanisms involved and the genes related to weevil resistance are yet to be elucidated. In this study, we performed an RNA sequencing (RNA-seq)-based transcriptome analysis using the resistant and susceptible cultivars. This is the first study involving a comprehensive gene expression analysis that provides new insights about the genes and mechanisms associated with weevil resistance in sweetpotato.

由于象鼻虫(weevils)是甘薯(sweetpotato)为害最严重的害虫,因此培育抗象鼻虫的甘薯品种被视为甘薯育种工作的核心要务。然而,甘薯抗象鼻虫所涉及的机制及相关基因仍有待阐明。本研究以抗象鼻虫与感象鼻虫的甘薯品种为实验材料,开展了基于RNA测序(RNA-seq)的转录组分析。本研究是首个针对甘薯抗象鼻虫相关基因与作用机制开展的全面基因表达分析研究,为解析该类基因及抗虫机制提供了全新研究视角。
