Cycling Routes Open

This spatial dataset represents the existing cycle routes within Glasgow City. It has been updated in 2025 to streamline the data structure in line with the Cycling by Design 2021 guidelines. A new standardized terminology has been introduced to improve clarity and enhance the user experience, as outlined below: Segregated Cycle Lane: A lane physically separated from motor traffic, either on-road, on the footway, or remote, using hard or soft segregation. Cycle Lane: A lane marked on the carriageway with a painted line, which may be advisory (dashed line) or mandatory (solid line). Shared Footway: A footway adjacent to a road with no segregation or demarcation between cyclists and pedestrians. Shared Path: A footpath remote or detached from the road with no segregation or demarcation between cyclists and pedestrians. Mixed Traffic Street: A low-speed, low-traffic environment where cycles and motor traffic share the road.
