This dataset contains site locations, dates, and reference information used in the article *Is global drought-induced forest mortality increasing?* by Steinkamp and Hickler.
The site location information is derived from two key sources: 1) the review paper *A global overview of drought and heat-induced tree mortality reveals emerging climate change risks for forests* published by Allen et al. (2010) in *Forest Ecology and Management*, Volume 259, Issue 4, pp. 660–684; and 2) the chapter *Terrestrial and inland water systems* by Scholes et al. (2014), which appears in the edited volume *Climate Change 2014: Impacts, Adaptation, and Vulnerability* led by Field et al., accessible via the URL http://ipcc-wg2.gov/AR5/images/uploads/WGIIAR5-Chap4_FGDall.pdf (accessed on 31 March 2014).
This dataset also includes supplementary information generated from model simulations conducted using the dynamic vegetation model LPJ-GUESS.
This corresponding work was published as Steinkamp and Hickler (in press) with the article *Is global drought-induced forest mortality increasing?* in *Journal of Ecology*.
