The series is made up of annual reports of the Chief Secretary's various functions, sub-departments and sub-ordinate agencies; annual reports from The University of Melbourne and the Minister of Public Instruction post-1873; and papers from various interstate and Australasian conferences received by the the Chief Secretary's Department.Other copies of these reports and papers would have been tabled in Parliament.
