CORRELATION OF INTRAOCULAR PRESSURE MEASURED BY SCHIOTZ INDENTATION TONOMETER AND GOLDMANN APPLANATION TONOMETER

Aim: To study and correlate the Intraocular pressure measured by Schiotz indentation tonometer and Goldmann applanation tonometer.
Materials and Methods: Cross-sectional Analytical study was done in 200 eyes of 100 purposively selected patients and were subjected to two methods of tonometry - Goldmann applanation tonometry and Schiotz indentation tonometry in a period of 10 months from January 2024 to October 2024. Correlation between the two values was then observed and the agreement between the two was plotted on Bland Altman plot. Results- There was positive correlation found between the IOP measured by Schiotz indentation tonometer and Goldmann Applanation tonometer and there was no systematic difference found between the two on Bland Altman plot.
Conclusion: In conclusion, IOP readings using Schiotz indentation tonometer do correlate with Goldmann applanation tonometer. Hence, as being portable and relatively cost effective, Schiotz tonometer can be used in rural settings for baseline IOP measurement.

材料与方法:本研究为横断面分析性研究,于2024年1月至2024年10月共10个月的周期内,纳入100名经目的性选取的患者,共计200只患眼,分别采用Goldmann压平式眼压计与Schiotz压陷式眼压计两种方法进行眼压测量。随后对两组测量值进行相关性分析,并以布兰德-奥特曼图(Bland Altman plot)绘制二者的一致性评估结果。
结果:Schiotz压陷式眼压计与Goldmann压平式眼压计所测得的眼内压呈正相关;布兰德-奥特曼图分析显示,两种测量方法之间未发现系统偏差。
结论:综上,采用Schiotz压陷式眼压计获取的眼内压测量结果与Goldmann压平式眼压计的测量结果具有相关性。鉴于Schiotz眼压计具备便携性与相对成本效益优势,其可应用于乡村基层场景的基线眼内压测量。
