Indigenous Nigerian vegetables harbour plant species-specific seed microbial signatures for bacteria and fungi

Here, we investigated the seed microbiomes of five Nigerian indigenous vegetables: Amaranthus hybridus, Solanum macrocarpon, Corchorus olitorius, Celosia argentea, and Telfairia occidentalis. The findings highlight seed microbiome's role in plant resilience and potential for microbiome-informed breeding and sustainable agriculture.

本研究对5种尼日利亚本土蔬菜的种子微生物组开展了系统探究，供试蔬菜包括皱果苋（Amaranthus hybridus）、大果茄（Solanum macrocarpon）、长蒴黄麻（Corchorus olitorius）、青葙（Celosia argentea）以及非洲油瓜（Telfairia occidentalis）。研究结果明确了种子微生物组在植物抗逆性中的关键作用，同时彰显了其在微生物组导向育种与可持续农业领域的应用潜力。
