Coastal ecosystem health is threatened by the release of untreated sewage wastewater. In this study, the relationship of fecal bacteria with the microbial community diversity and composition in beach sand or seawater was first investigated when untreated wastewater or exogenous nutrients was spiked into four microcosms.
