Study of microbiome of Lipoptena cervi

Deer keds Lipoptena cervi were collected in September 2021 in Mozhaysky district of Moscow region, Russia. Deer keds were identified using a taxonomic keys and through analysis of the cytochrome oxidase subunit I (COI). For shotgun analysis of microbiome a pool of both sexes of deer keds (10 individuals) was used; insects were dissected to collect the internal organs of the thorax and abdomen for the subsequent isolation of DNA using a QIAamp DNA Microbiome kit.
