Freshwater mussel of the Hyriidae family indicate potential for a pearl cultivation in the tropical region of Brazil

Fishing for molluscs (eg bivalves and gastropods) is a traditional activity carried out by riverine and coastal families due to the widespread use of fishing resources. The formation of the pearls occurs from a small particle surrounded by concentric layers of mother-of-pearl, firmly in a dense and brilliant materialization. These are classified by "ampolada" or "encistada", formed around a nucleus. The objective of this work was to report records of pearls in freshwater mussel of the Maratauíra river, Abaetetuba, Pará.

捕捞软体动物（molluscs，如双壳类与腹足类）是沿河与沿海居民的传统生产活动，其背景为当地渔业资源的广泛开发与利用。珍珠的形成源于一颗微小颗粒被同心层状的珍珠质（mother-of-pearl）包裹，最终形成致密且光泽闪耀的结构体。此类珍珠可分为围绕核心形成的"ampolada"与"encistada"两类。本研究旨在记录巴西帕拉州阿巴埃特图巴市马拉塔维拉河淡水蚌中的珍珠发现记录。
