Hexactinellida sp. DTS-2022 genome sequencing
Genome sequencing and assembly of a Euplectellid sponge (Hexactinellida) endemic to the Monterey Bay, California. We colloquially refer to this species as the "tulip" sponge for its eponymous shape. This individual was collected at a depth of 3772 meters at 1.5 degrees Celsius at 34.57N, 122.56W. All sequencing reads are derived from a single individual. This BioProject contains the primary haplotype of the genome assembly. The haplotypes were phased during assembly with hifiasm using several Hi-C libraries. This pseudohaplotype contains 18 chromosome-scale sequences that share high sequence colinearity with the recently published Oopsacas minuta genome.
