Finding differentially expressed genes in response to soil microbe treatments in two Brassica rapa genotypes--FPsc and R500. One week after germination seedlings were thinned to three plants per pot that were arranged in a ~6 cm equilateral triangle. Fourteen days later above- and below-ground plant tissue was collected from a single pot of each treatment from six spatial blocks to explore variation in gene expression across treatments. Leaf discs and root samples were placed into microcentrifuge tubes, snap frozen, and stored at -80 C until RNA extractions for transcriptomic profiling.
