These sequences are from a prairie restoration experiments testing the combined effects of two soil amendments: arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi strains from remnant prairie sites (biotic soil amendment), and biochar (carbonized organic matter, an abiotic soil amendment) on the AM fungal community in the restoration plots. Sequences are derived from the AM fungi that colonized plant roots collected from soil samples taken in each of the first two years of the restoration experiment. The PCR primers used amplify a portion of the large subunit (28S/LSU) nuclear ribosomal RNA gene, and are fairly specific to AM fungi although they also amplify sequences from other fungi. Sequences are paired 300bp reads from an Illumina MiSeq instrument.
