Desiccation tolerance is relatively frequent in non-vascular plants and green algae. Over the last two decades, transcriptomic approaches have identified genes whose expression is induced by desiccation in diverse desiccation-tolerant taxa. However, the genes related with desiccation tolerance or transcriptional regulatory mechanisms in response to successive cycles of desiccation and rehydration have not yet been comprehensively analyzed. Coccomyxa simplex is a lichen-forming microalga whose desiccation tolerance is associated with both constitutive features and induced responses to desiccation and rehydration. Here we test the extent of transcriptional regulation in the response to a different number of desiccation/rehydration (D/R) cyles and identify genes/cellular processes possibly related with desiccation tolerance.

脱水耐受性(desiccation tolerance)在非维管植物与绿藻中相对普遍。近二十年来,转录组学(transcriptomic)研究方法已在多种脱水耐受分类群中鉴定出受脱水诱导表达的基因。然而,针对连续脱水-复水循环响应的脱水耐受相关基因及转录调控机制,目前尚未得到全面解析。简单球藻(Coccomyxa simplex)是一种地衣型微藻,其脱水耐受性与其组成型特征及对脱水和复水的诱导响应均密切相关。本研究旨在探究不同次数脱水-复水(D/R)循环响应中的转录调控程度,并鉴定可能与脱水耐受性相关的基因及细胞过程。
