Corporal 33404 John Henry Kelty, known as Harry was my grandfather. He was born in Newton Heath Manchester in 1890.

He was in the territorial army before joining the Manchester Regiment for war service.

He became a sergeant (gas NCO) and was transferred between battalions due, I assume, to losses. He was wounded and returned to England spending time in No. 1 War Hospital Reading and another hospital which I do not know it's name. My grandfather is on the front left hand side of the photograph.

He did not return to the front due to losing a large portion of his right calf muscle from the gunshot wound. He was eventually discharged in December 1918. He spent some time in Germany after the war and eventually became a manager of the Yates' Wine Lodge in Manchester.
He died in 1956, a year before my birth.

下士（Corporal）33404号约翰·亨利·凯尔蒂（昵称哈里）是我的祖父。他于1890年出生于英国曼彻斯特的牛顿希思地区。
他曾服役于本土防卫军（Territorial Army），之后加入曼彻斯特军团奔赴战场。
他升任中士，兼任毒气士官（Gas Non-Commissioned Officer），据我推测，因部队作战减员，他在各营之间辗转调动。他在作战中负伤，返回英国后先后在雷丁第一战争医院以及一所名称已无法考证的医院接受治疗。这张照片的左前方位置即为我的祖父。
因枪伤导致右侧小腿肌肉大面积缺损，他未能重返前线，最终于1918年12月正式退伍。战后他曾在德国逗留一段时间，之后出任曼彻斯特耶茨酒廊（Yates' Wine Lodge）的经理。
他于1956年逝世，也就是我出生的前一年。
