Draft genome sequence of SmDNAV 001. Sicyoidochytrium minutum DNA virus strain:001

SmDNAV is a dsDNA virus infecting marine fungoid protist Sicyoidochytrium minutum (Thraustochytriaceae). Thraustochytrids are recognized as the important decomposer in coastal environments and expected to be used industrially due to their high accumulation capability of PUFAs. Therefore, elucidating the molecular biological mechanisms of viral replication and its host reaction will bring valuable knowledge. Here we report the genome draft genome sequence of SmDNAV strain 001.

SmDNAV是一种侵染海洋真菌类原生生物细粘壶菌（Sicyoidochytrium minutum，隶属于破囊壶菌科Thraustochytriaceae）的双链DNA（double-stranded DNA，dsDNA）病毒。破囊壶菌（Thraustochytrids）被认定为沿海环境中的重要分解者，且因其具备高效积累多不饱和脂肪酸（Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids，PUFAs）的能力而具备工业应用潜力。因此，阐明病毒复制的分子生物学机制及其宿主的应答反应，将具有重要的学术价值。本研究报道了SmDNAV 001菌株的基因组草图序列。
