The female statue wearing a peplos (dress). Several statues of standing women, uniformly designed and similarly dressed, have been restored to a prominent position on the acropolis at Xanthos. Quite who they represented is unknown but their significance is reflected by their excellent quality. This, and the similar statue also displayed in this gallery, are typical of the early Classical period of Greek sculpture. About 460 BC. This object is part of Scan The World.
