One Day Design Rainfall 10 Year Return Period

This data set contains the one day design rainfall in South Africa (SA). Quality observed streamflow data are seldom possible at the site of interest for lack of such streamflow data. Usually rainfall based methods of flood frequency estimations have to be used. This requires a probabilistic approach to analysing rainfall for design purposes. The term "design rainfall" is used to describe the depth of rainfall, for a critical duration (e.g. 5 minutes, or 1 day or 7 days), which depends on the size of the catchment, for a desired frequency of recurrence.

本数据集包含南非（South Africa，简称SA）的单日设计降雨。由于目标研究站点缺乏相关径流实测资料，通常难以获取高质量的原位观测径流数据。因此，洪水频率估算通常需采用基于降雨的分析方法，这就需要采用概率分析方法，为工程设计目标开展降雨分析。“设计降雨”这一术语用于描述满足特定要求的降雨深度：该降雨对应的临界历时（如5分钟、1天或7天）由流域规模决定，且需匹配期望的重现频率。
