Bovine respiratory disease (BRD) is an ongoing and vital problem in dairy and beef cattle. Thus, the objective of the study focuses on the characterization of the nasal microbiome of apparently healthy (n=75) and BRD-affected (n=58) pen-mates Holstein steers as a potential additional diagnostic tool to identify an animal with BRD. For the nasal microbiome analysis, the region V4 of the 16S rRNA gene was amplified and sequenced using Illumina MiSeq Sequencer.

牛呼吸道疾病(Bovine respiratory disease, BRD)是奶牛与肉牛养殖业中持续存在且至关重要的问题。为此,本研究旨在对表观健康(n=75)与感染BRD(n=58)的同栏饲养荷斯坦阉公牛的鼻腔微生物组进行特征解析,以开发一种潜在的辅助诊断工具,用于识别BRD感染个体。针对鼻腔微生物组分析,研究人员采用Illumina MiSeq测序仪(Illumina MiSeq Sequencer)对16S rRNA基因(16S rRNA gene)的V4可变区进行扩增并测序。
