By 2026, the global electroyzer capacity is forecast to reach 8.7 gigawatts as a result of large-scale hydrogen electrolysis projects planned across the globe. These projects would increase the global additional renewable capacity up to approximately 18 gigawatts. Furthermore, China is projected to account for the largest share of the large-scale electrolysis projects capacity, with Europe trailing behind. An electrolyzer is a device that uses electricity to break water into hydrogen and oxygen, thus producing hydrogen gas that can be stored.
