At center a man sits on one of the slabs joining the columns which support the archways above the entrance to the California building during San Francisco's 1915 World's Fair. A rug can be seen between the square columns to the right. Lanterns have been hung from the rafters above. To the left, a tall second building with spires and domes can be partially seen. Both buildings were mock-ups in the Exposition's architectural emphasis, made out of wood and a temporary material called "staff" made out of plaster and a burlap-type fiber. All buildings were restricted as well to an eight-color pastel theme that produced a sense of unity in the exhibit.
