About seven percent of total annual methane emissions originate from coal mines, making these systems significant contributors to the global greenhouse effect. This study focuses on reconstructing the complex microbial community of an anaerobic, nutrient amended Australian coal seam that showed continuous methane production over a period of 19 months.
