We performed transcriptomic analysis of clinical strains from patients with different degrees of disease severity, as well as HM-1 under different conditions, to find possible virulence factor(s). Even after several months of axenization, a virulent clinical strain isolated from a liver abscess maintained its virulence and unique gene expression pattern under in vitro culture conditions.
