Dataset for 'High prevalence of porcine cysticercosis in slaughtered pigs in Rwanda: an abattoir survey'. [Dataset]

Porcine cysticercosis is an important public health problem in sub-Saharan Africa. We carried out a cross-sectional survey of 744 pigs in 6 abattoirs in Rwanda. Pig characteristics were recorded and infection status was assessed using a commercial antigen-ELISA. Whole carcass dissection was carried out on a subset of 67 pigs, in order to estimate the diagnostic accuracy of the ELISA and to confirm the species of tapeworm present. The data indicate a high prevalence of porcine cysticercosis in Rwandan abattoirs.

猪囊尾蚴病（Porcine cysticercosis）是撒哈拉以南非洲地区的重要公共卫生问题。本研究对卢旺达6家屠宰场的744头生猪开展横断面调查，记录生猪的个体特征，并采用商用抗原酶联免疫吸附试验（antigen-ELISA）评估其感染状态。为评估该ELISA方法的诊断准确性并确认检出的绦虫虫种，研究人员对其中67头生猪亚样本开展全胴体剖检。本研究数据表明，卢旺达屠宰场中猪囊尾蚴病的感染率较高。
