The activated sludge was stimulated by different aromatics, e.g. naphthalene, phenol and indole, or bioaugmented with different strains, e.g. wild strain and recombinant E. coli, for indigo bioproduction. The microbial community structures and compositions of the activated sludge were analyzed by Illumina MiSeq sequencing.
