Pre-Analysis Plan for Public Attitudes toward Asylum-Seekers and Asylum Policies across Europe

Summary: Does the willingness of European voters to welcome asylum-seekers in their municipalities vary as a function of the specific attributes of the claimants (e.g. country of origin, education, reason for fleeing)? And to what extent do voters' preferences over specific features of asylum policies vary across the different countries in Europe? To address these questions, we field a large-scale survey experiment among 15,000 voters in fifteen European countries. Based on these unique data, we assess the extent to which respondents’ social dispositions, partisan orientation and ideology correlates with attitudes towards asylum-seekers, and measure the impact of specific characteristics of asylum-seekers and asylum policies on public support.

摘要：欧洲选民在其所在市镇接纳寻求庇护者（asylum-seekers）的意愿，是否会因庇护申请者的特定属性（如原籍国、受教育程度、逃离动因等）而产生差异？欧洲各国选民对庇护政策具体条款的偏好，在不同欧洲国家间存在多大程度的异质性？为解答上述问题，研究团队在15个欧洲国家的15000名选民中开展了大规模调查实验（survey experiment）。基于这批独特的调研数据，本研究评估了受访者的社会性情、党派倾向与意识形态，及其与他们对寻求庇护者的态度之间的关联程度，并量化了寻求庇护者及庇护政策的特定特征对公众支持度的影响。
