Anti-inflammatory properties of omega 3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) have been exploited in the prevention and management of inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) with promising results. However, it remains unclear if PUFA play a significant role in the resolution of inflammation and promote mucosal healing. In this study, we attempted to understand the mechanisms through which krill oil (KO), a natural product rich in PUFA and potent antioxidant astaxanthin, modulates the gut microbiome and metabolome using multi-omics based approaches in in vitro and in vivo colitis models.
ω-3多不饱和脂肪酸(PUFA)的抗炎特性已被应用于炎症性肠病(IBD)的预防与管理,并取得了颇具前景的研究结果。然而,目前仍不明确PUFA是否在炎症消退与黏膜修复中发挥关键作用。本研究旨在阐明富含PUFA与强效抗氧化剂虾青素的天然产物磷虾油(KO),通过体外与体内结肠炎模型的多组学方法调控肠道微生物组与代谢组的具体机制。
